DIY Páixiāo Workshop Overview
The Páixiāo is a traditional Chinese wind instrument composed of multiple bamboo pipes of varying lengths, arranged side by side in order of pitch. When played, the performer blows across the pipe openings, causing the air to vibrate and produce sound.

This course aims to introduce students to the structure and acoustic principles of traditional Chinese instruments through the hands-on experience of making their own Páixiāo. Under professional guidance, students will go through the process of selecting materials, cutting, assembling, and tuning the instrument. By the end of the course, they will have created their own playable Páixiāo and learned basic playing techniques to perform simple melodies.
